WOW 3/25/12

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Women’s Tactical Association Workout of the Week.  We are going to switch gears and start working with our rifles.  If you don’t have a rifle, feel free to follow along with your shotgun.

Make sure your rifle is unloaded first.  I’m a big fan of the CBD, Chamber Blocking Device.  It does just that, and gives an excellent visual indicator to everyone else around that your chamber is blocked.  When you want it out, you…

Must Read for Police re: ammunition cycling.

Our friends over at Bolo Report recently posted this article about the dangers of repeated chambering of the same bullet(s).  If you routinely unload and reload a firearm, as most cops do, this is good information to have.

Have you dry fired today?

Magnum products for T&E.

I have a few of these, Magnum RD Long Sleeve Shirts, in short sleeve also, and two of these, Magnum RD Pant, all for women.  Pants are size 8 short, approx. 30" inseam, and the shirts are mediums and larges.  Colors are navy and black. I didn't want to just ship them to testers based on size, since clothing has…

Free to good home.

I have two sets top and bottom, of Under Armour Cold Gear, compression fit, women's size Large, free to good home.  They are black, top is mock neck, like new condition.  I bought them for work to wear under my uniform, but they are more suited to aerobic activities.  I will pay shipping to get them to you, I don't need them, but don't want to throw them out and do not live near a donation location.

Rifle classes.

There are no prerequisites for the rifle classes, you can take whichever ones you'd like, without having to take the one before if you so choose.  FYI.

Just tripped over THIS on the internet.  Diamondback Tactical catalog.  I have two of their plate carriers, a Fast Attach and an Advanced Fast Attack.  They deliver a lot of bang for your buck and they are made in America.

WOD will resume soon.

Things got a little hectic in my corner of the universe with holidays and Shot Show coming up.  I have lesson plans and handouts to get together for the upcoming classes, but should be resuming WODs in a couple of weeks, once I get a bit caught up.  In anticipation of the National Patrol Rifle Championship in June, I'll be mixing in some rifle WODs.  In the meantime, keep at the old WODs and make sure you revisit the ones that you need the most work at.  Remember, you have to be as good as…

WOD 12/11/11

WOD begins as do all WODs, with a safety check.  Make sure you unload your pistol, physically check your chamber, press check in good light, look away, press check again.  Put ALL of your ammo and magazines in another room, and properly situate your body armor so you can dry fire at it, over a chair, on a hanger, etc.  One more press check, please.  The focus of this WOD is going to be your front sight.  You will draw and aim at your threat, picking up your front sight about half way there,…

WOD 11/29/11

WOD 11/29/11

I have decided to save movement drills until I can post a video for it, as that will save me a lot of typing time, and save you a lot of reading time.

Today’s WOD builds on the WOD from 11/27/11, and you will be practicing malfunction clearance.  You will use only your support hand again, but you will need one empty magazine  The first step in every dry fire session is safety.  Make sure…

WOD 11/27/11

Hello everyone, I hope your Holiday season is off to a happy start.  For the next WOD, I wanted to post a couple short videos to quickly explain it and make it easier for those of you who have never practiced this skill, but my cell phone camera and my MacBook are refusing to speak the same language they both spoke a month ago.  I also figured most of you would not miss a WOD this week with everything else going on family/Holiday/work wise.

This WOD focuses on drawing and…

11/20/11 WOD

11/20/11 WOD, put on your duty gear, unload pistol, and put all ammo in another room.  Lock your slide back and stick your finger in the chamber, physically check for an empty chamber, look away, press check, look away, press check one more time.  Please do not just rack the slide several times and hope your extractor is working properly.  Prop up your body armor in a chair, hang it over a door, somehow position it so you can efficiently point your muzzle at it and dry fire.…

11/18/11 WOD

11/18/11 WOD starts just like 11/10/11, unload pistol and put all ammo and magazines in another room.  Lock your slide back, stick your finger in the chamber, press check, press check again.  Begin from standing, draw pistol and at the same time drop into a prone position that is narrow, no knees or elbows sticking out for the bad guy to shoot off.  If it is awkward, or takes some wiggling around once you get prone, then keep wiggling and find a good stable position.  Next, check your 360,…
