Feedback Requested: EMT-B Class with Tactical Focus

WTA Instructor, John Mack (Illinois Sate Police), is trying to put together an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-B course to be held at Malcolm X College in Chicago. It would be a state certified course, 120 hours long (one full semester). The course will cover the usual EMT curriculum but will be geared toward the tactical officer and/or tactical application of emergency medicine.

There would also be an optional follow-up course that is 24 hours long which would allow you to do more…

Whoops!

Real quick I was thinking about those pistol mounted lights, which i love, but it seems like a new and improved one keeps coming out before i have time to blink. But recently I received an email in regards to a NY copper fatally shooting a man while attempting to turn on his pistol mounted light!!!! Whoops!!! A lot of my friends have the lights but haven't taken the class on how to properly use it. To my surprise I was taught not to use your trigger finger to… Continue

Knives.

I've noticed that every cop carries a knife; I've seen every shape and size, automatic, spring assist, fixed blade, etc. One thing that amazes me is the majority of pocket knives that cops carry have to be turned around before they can be opened.  What sense does that make?  That's okay if it is the knife you use as a tool, but if it is the knife you'll go to when your pistol is out of play, really bad things are happening.  If your Oh $hit knife has to be reversed in your hand before you can… Continue

Hello out there in WTA land.  I'm teaching my Shooting Skills for the woman officer again on March 17th through NEMRT at the Flossmoor range.  It is a women's only class, taught by myself and Jeff Chudwin.  The goal of the class it to get the students to begin the transition from what you learned at the academy, how to put holes in paper, to learning how to fight with your pistol.  It is a basic 8 hour class that starts… Continue

Boots?

What is going on with Boots? One of the most important things about my uniform which I have spent countless hours researching is the boots I put on my feet every day to hit the streets. I have purchased boots for numerous reasons, because they are waterproof, insulated, have a knife attached, or simply because they look cool. Im am SOOO tired of wasting my time and money. I need something lightweight, durable, and most importantly comfortable. Wish I could wear gym shoes with my uniform but…

To Supplement or Not to Supplement?

In regard to your fitness and nutrition routine, I say SUPPLEMENT.

My latest favorite pre-workout supplement is Jack3D. If you are feeling tired or less than enthused about hitting the gym then Jack3D is for you. I take it 20 minutes before my workout and it gives me that little extra energy, strength and stamina to ensure that my time at the gym is not wasted. It…
