Info for Vendors

Thank you for your interest in the Member Testing Program provided by the Women’s Tactical Association.  We are excited about finding quality products that fit the needs of women (and men) in the Law Enforcement community.  Your product(s) will be evaluated by officers working/playing within the intended field application for your product.

Special requests are welcome and encouraged.  Having the right gear to do the job makes us more efficient and effective, so we encourage communication with companies and can customize our testing to your needs.  A typical evaluation will last 90 days, unless an alternative time period is more appropriate.

There are 10 categories available to our testers, to use as we feel is applicable, unless you make a special request.  The categories are as follows, in summary:

  • Design/Ease of Use - Is the product well thought out?  Does the design of the product lend itself to the intended use?  Is product usage intuitive, how would it function when the user is under stress, if applicable?
  • Performance - Does product function as intended/marketed?
  • Size/Fit - Is the sizing true?   For women’s products, does the product fit better than a men’s/unisex fit?
  • Quality/Durability - Is product made from high quality materials?  Does the product continue to perform as new after being subjected to its intended usage throughout the evaluation period?
  • Versatility - How specialized is product?  Can product be used on duty/off duty, uniform patrol/tactical, concealed carry/soft clothing?
  • Application/Practicality - How useful is product for law enforcement?  Is there a need for the product?
  • Comfort - Can product function as an extension of the Officer?
  • Cleaning/Maintenance - Is product field maintainable?  Does it require special tools?  How much maintenance is required?
  • Accuracy - How accurate is it?  Do any commonly encountered circumstances effect this accuracy?
  • Overall Women’s Design -  For women’s products, do the ratings in the above categories place the product head and shoulders above other men’s/unisex products?

Once submitted for testing, products become property of the Women’s Tactical Association, unless prior arrangements are made.  For each product being tested, at least two must be submitted to ensure consistency.  Products must be submitted with a check for $50, or Paypal arrangements can be made.  This is simply to cover our postage costs for disseminating the products unless you opt to ship the product directly to our testers, then the $50 fee would be waived.

Products will be rated on a scale of 1 to 5 in applicable categories and must not receive any scores lower than 3 to qualify for the WTA Member Approved logo.  Any product that does not qualify, will not receive approval and detailed feedback will be provided to the company to aid in their product improvement.

Any company submitting a product that fails can choose to have the product returned, or receive digital photographs detailing the failure, as well as a detailed description of how and when the failure occurred.

We will feature qualified product reviews in our monthly newsletter and on our website.  Please feel free to contact me via phone or email with any questions or special requests, as we are here to help you make us more effective.
