Rifle 104 will begin with a few simple drills to assess the overall skill level of the class and progress into a review of movement and positions. Shooter will work further on their kneeling and prone position, and their effectiveness in getting in to them quickly. Movement will be stressed to reinforce to shooters that they do not want to be a stationary target. Shooters will be introduced to transition drills for closer distances when it is less effective to reload or attempt to clear a malfunction in the long gun, so they will transition to their pistol to finish the fight, then get their long guns back up and running.
Shooters will also practice shooting around barricades from all positions.
Optics are optional, iron sights are mandatory. Shooters who have both will equally split their shooting time between the two sight systems.
Two slots in this class can be for civilians, but you must get my approval prior to making payment.
This class will be taught outside on a “protected” range as I call it. The firing line is covered, but the range itself is open. The range is protected from wind, as it is surrounded on all sides. Heaters will be provided if need be and there are heated classrooms and bathrooms for breaks. Dress appropriately and be sure to bring food and water as lunch will be short.
Required equipment:
Department ID card or FOID card
Patrol rifle with iron sights (optic optional)
Duty belt with pistol and 3 pistol magazines.
Sling
Eye and ear protection
