Purpose:
This course is designed to introduce students to the tactics, techniques and safety procedures involved in high angle rope operations, including; rappelling, wall climbing and belaying. Students will be introduced to the types and proper use of equipment, including; ropes, webbing, harnesses carabiners, belaying devices, rescue 8s, rappel racks and anchors. Each student will be instructed in the proper techniques of rappelling, wall climbing and belaying and have several opportunities to do each. No prior experience is required. Besides giving students the practical skills, this course also is designed to improve confidence, team work and attention to detail.

Fee: No Cost for WTA members
Registration is required and the class is limited to 20 students.
Equipment: Comfortable clothing (ideally bring both athletic shoes for wall climbing and hiking shoes or boots for rappelling) sun screen, sun glasses, and nalgene bottle with water or Gatorade. Long hair must be up for safety.
