This class brings you into the 21st century of firearms instructions.  I give it two thumbs up!

This three day program will provide firearms instructors with updated and advanced information and practical hands-on experience to allow them to assess and review, revise, and improve firearms proficiency training for their officers and agencies. Firearms instructors will examine training strategies and tactics that encompass law, policy, and procedure with a focus on developing effective police firearms skills to respond to deadly force threats.

Course topics include:

- Firearms safety rules and guidelines for training
- Shooting fundamentals / Core Skills
- Key Issue: Diagnosing and Correcting Problem Shooters / LAPD Exercises
- Preparing Officers for the Street: Combatives and Defensive Handgun / Long
Gun Skills
- Training for the Real World Fight
- Types of Training / Quality of training
- Review of Current Types of Law Enforcement Firearms and Ammunition
- Qualification – The Law - What it Means / Requalification frequency
- Scoring systems – Scoring for Paper or the Real World

Students must bring their duty belts and handguns, safety gear including eye and ear protection, a baseball type cap, tight neck T-Shirt (prevent hot brass from getting inside clothing) and 600 total rounds of factory ammunition to class.

Bring food and drink daily and appropriate weather related clothing and boots / shoes.

This course has been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and is not reimbursable by the ILETSB.
